Rev. Dr. Simon & Rev. Lucrecia Castillo
It has pleased the Lord that the pastors Castillo work for His cause in our midst. In 1963 they were appointed pastors of the Good Shepherd Christian Church in the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
In the community, Rev. Dr. Simon Castillo served as Commissioner of Public Housing and also the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation. He currently is the Commissioner of the Police Department.
In 1988 the Rev. Dr. Simon Castillo opened the doors of the Good Shepherd Institute and in 1989 began the program "Mana" which his wife, the Rev. Lucrecia Castillo and church members work with the purpose of satisfying physical and spiritual hunger of those less fortunate. Seeing the great need for housing for low-income people, Rev. Dr. Simon Castillo and civic leaders established "Nuestra Casa del Pueblo." In 1993, Rev. Dr. Simon Castillo, and Rev . Lucrecia Castillo took their ministry to various correctional institutions in the state of Connecticut in which they remain active. They began the program "Reaching All" in 2009, in which food is distributed to the congregation and community that is donated by "Trader Joe’s." They were also able to bless our community and surrounding cities through the radio ministry "Eternal Life Frequency" WDJZ 1530AM.
They’ve ministered together in various states and countries of this nation, in Puerto Rico and in the Republics of Colombia , Venezuela, Mexico, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Honduras. Rev. Dr. Simon Castillo has ministered in Guatemala, Bolivia, and Bonaire. In particular, they have now managed to see their vision become reality; the orphanage "A New Future, Inc." in the town of Bonao in the Dominican Republic. It was inaugurated on July 18, 2009. With similar goals, they are working in Colombia and in Honduras.
The Good Shepherd Christian Church feels privileged to be the recipients of such great jewels of God. They’ve been a great blessing not only to the Church but also to the city of Bridgeport, and every person that God allows them to come in contact with. For them we give thanks to God.
