Good Shepherd Christian Church

PRISON MINISTRY – We have a group of people that go out every month to reach out and minister to those who are incarcerated.  Every first Saturday, a group of members travel to the Enfield Correctional Facility in Enfield, CT and also to the Carl Robinson Correctional Facility in Enfield CT.  Every third Saturday to the Garner Correctional Facility in Newtown, CT and to the Niantic Correctional Facility in Niantic CT and again on every fourth Saturday of the month.

 

OUTREACH MINISTRY – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded of you.  An surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  Matthew 28: 19-20 s.  As a church, our mission is to evangelize, establish missions and to gain those souls that God has for Him here on earth.  In doing so, we have many outreach ministries such as our MISSIONS department, where we actively have the “New Future, Inc” Orphanage in the Dominican Republic and the “Educative Center, Christian Academy A New Future.”  We also have plans to extend our vision to other Latin American countries.  We are a church that has been categorized by offering our services to our community for many years. We reach out to our local community through our Soup Kitchen Ministry, “MANA”, that will not only fill the physical hunger of those who come through our doors but also their spiritual hunger.  We’ve also had the privilege for so many years to help those families in need on Thanksgiving Day by bringing them food baskets thanks to our STOREHOUSE OF BLESSINGS ministry.  We also have our Home Service ministry where a group of individuals reach out to the community and visit them at their homes and bring to them hope and salvation.

 

MUSIC & ARTS - The Lord has blessed our church with singers and musicians that come prepared spiritually every service to usher in the presence of the Lord by way of praise and worship to set the atmosphere.  Just as King David and many others dances before the presence of the Lord we have also been blessed with our “Worshippers of the King” DANCE MINISTRY that praise the Lord just the same with interpretive dance, liturgical, pantomime, etc. “Praise Him with the timbrel and dance, praise him with the stringed instruments and organs.” Psalm 150:4   We actively have a church choir that was established in 1976.  Every year for the holidays we celebrate along with this group of people a dramatic presentation reminding us what the real meaning of Christmas is, and in doing so, we reach out and minister to the greater Bridgeport community.

 

FAMILY MINISTRY – The goal of our church is to strengthen families and present them to God.  In these modern times both men and women face the same problems; raising a family. Our church serves as a beacon of light in this city and provides adequate guidance to help you stay on the right path until you reach your destination.  We have established programs and join together with other organizations in providing faith-based activities for the entire family. 

 

We currently have a Children's ministry that is aimed at kids ages 3-12. We help equip the children with the knowledge and tools to stand firm in a dying world. Hebrew 13:21, 2 Peter 3:18 To instruct, encourage and help guide them into freely worshipping and praising our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Chronicles 16:9 To help teach the children how to apply the Word to their daily lives. Proverbs 2:1-5 To teach that prayer and communion with the Father is the first thing to turn to in all situations. Matthew 6:33 To help turn their hearts toward Christ Jesus the ONLY person that can supply all their needs. Philippians 4:19

 

We have our Royal Ranger Program that is a mentoring program for future men for kids from Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. We provide Christlike character formation and servant leadership development for boys and young men in a highly relational and fun environment. Our mission is to evangelize, equip, and empower the next generation of Christlike men and lifelong servant leaders.  

 

Our Girls Ministries Program which purpose is to win girls for Jesus Christ through love and acceptance and learning to obey every command He left us. Our vision is to see every girl moving toward a deep relationship with Jesus Christ. We seek to empower girls to realize their importance and potential in the kingdom of God. We seek a future where girls and leaders — through mentoring and discipleship — form lasting, life-changing friendships.

 

We also have our Soldiers of Christ Youth Ministry that is designed to do just that: battle against the mental, physical, and spiritual ongoing battles and help other youth be bold and live for Christ and make a difference.  They know they don't have to surrender like everyone else just to try and "fit in" and be "popular."  They have the support of all the other ministries, programs, and events, but most importantly they have the assurance that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them. 

 

PASTORAL CARE - With a strong educational background coupled with the anointing and the calling from God himself, our Senior Pastors offer many counseling services to all those in the community;  Christian counseling, Family planning, Marriage counseling, and much more.
